Helping Montgomery Families Initiative

HMFI, under the District Attorney's Office in the 15th Judicial Circuit and Alabama Statute 16-28-12, is an intervention and prevention program that helps youth and families who are being impacted by the consequences of trauma, poverty, addiction, violence, etc. Many of the effects impedes their ability to attend school successfully; affects their mental health; and causes negative behaviors that are displayed at school, home and the community. When HMFI intervenes, a comprehensive assessment is used with the entire family as a means of not only connecting the target child to services and resources but also to assist the parent/guardian with the tools to better the functioning of the family as a unit.
