Alabama Council on Human Relations, Inc.

ACHR is both an advocate and a service delivery program. It's programs include Head Start (Darden Center in Opelika, King Center in Auburn, and Edelman Center in Hurtsboro) and Early Head Start programs (Center based at Darden and Edelman Centers and Home Based in Lee and Russell Counties). Head Start/Early Head Start serves income eligible pregnant women and children birth to five years old for the purpose of supporting healthy development and school readiness. Other programs offered by ACHR include Emergency Services (utility and rental assistance, weatherization and housing counseling), VITA tax preparation program, CACFP for home daycares, Community Gardening, and linkage to health services.
