Alabama CARES Program - Alabama Department of Senior Services

The Alabama CARES Program provides services to assist caregivers with the duties involved in caring for their loved ones. Although care giving can be tremendously rewarding, it can also have a detrimental impact on the health and well-being of the caregiver. Caregiving has its greatest impact on one’s emotional well-being. Caregivers of individuals with dementia and stroke survivors are at the highest risk for depression and anxiety disorders. Thus, the purpose of this program is to assist caregivers with the issues that may arise from the role of caregiving.
