AL Breastfeeding Friendly Child Care Initiative

The AL Breastfeeding Friendly Child Care Initiative aims to provide resources and training to child care programs of all kinds to help them support families to reach their breastfeeding goals. These child care programs are given tools and knowledge on how to actively support breastfeeding families and to help parents continue breastfeeding when they return to work or school. All child care programs, including home-based, center-based, licensed or license-exempt may apply for this certification. Training and technical assistance opportunities are provided to meet the certification requirements. Parents can access a list of child care programs that are certified on the website also. The Breastfeeding Friendly Child Care Certification is a collaborative effort of the Alabama Cooperative Extension System, the Alabama Department of Public Health, Alabama Partnership for Children, and the Alabama Breastfeeding Committee.
